Dear Marjorie

Received parcel and letter the books are OK the tobacco is alright too. We had a half-day on Monday, but that was all, our half-day passes have been stopped owing to the making of those gun positions. By the way darling I think you should get the papers for our marriage shortly, because there is a rumour that we are going abroad in a month or two and every thing seems to point that way, although nobody here can really tell but it would not surprise me because this division is supposed to be one of the best now in England. Can you tell me has anyone heard from Charles, only I have written several times inquiring about him but nobody has replied regarding him, also has anybody heard from Matthew Dryden yet.   Today we got a half -day holiday I was picked to play football we won by three goals, to me it was a good game but was rather rough. Well darling, I did not have a driving test, whether it is cancelled for good I do not know but I hope it is. In my room there are two chaps, they are going to a dance and every bit of their clothes is borrowed, right from hats to boots, they are real lads and do not care a dam for anybody. Regards my leave, that's if we do not have embarkation leave before, should be about the beginning of June, the absurd part about it is that we are not going to be told when we go on leave until the day before, why they or how they think of these ideas is beyond me but being a good soldier I do question their orders at least I must not. Well darling I must close now will try and write again soon

P.S. Could you let me have some writing paper, I cannot get any here.
