Sorry I could not write before only I arrived back from the show on Friday which meant I had all my kit to blanco and brass to polish to the state they were in, meant that I had to put in a lot of hard work, mud was all over the place, my boots were simply terrible with mud all over them. We had a fair time except the last day when it poured with rain we got drowned but still we dried out none the worse for it. I received your two letters when I returned, for which I was thankful, I also was pleased to see you on Sunday but it was much too short, although I think a week also will be to short a while, I guess it will pass like lightning. I have been on to the people responsible for my leave and I may be able to get it brought forward a bit but I shall not know until the last day or so, so it will be very difficult to let you know when I shall be home on leave, I must, also as note I am rather busy.
I have just arrived at a place to do a weeks guard, it is very near Joe & Mary's place it is a real honey of a guard we get one day in the week off so I asked for Thursday, I wondered if you would like to come to J & M on Thursday and see me there, I shall see J & M on Sunday for an hour or so and arrange for them to put you up for the night, there is no need to reply to this letter because I shall be at J & M 's on Thursday whether you are there or not, this is a wonderful bit of luck, don't you think? Because we are moving on Saturday round about Ipswich way, also I am missing the shoot next week. Heck I am glad I was chosen for this guard the food is wonderful we have one cook to cook for eight chaps and he is a dam good cook to. I should think that I will put on pounds in weight by the end of this week. I cannot give you the low down on what I am guarding or where I am in this letter but I have plenty of news when I see you, so cherrio perhaps until Thursday,
