I hope you had I nice Christmas. I had a fair one we had a nice dinner but that was about all, things here were very dull, the Scotch do not attach much importance to the Christmas season. I had a day off but there was nothing to do I went with a pal to the pictures in the evening. I guess New Year will be the time for all the fun. Things will simply burn here, nobody can keep these mad Scotch down. I was sorry to hear about Bill he was such a nice chap, one of the few decent Scotch fellows. It is strange I did not know Bill much but I took a decided liking to him. When you write to his wife you will remember me to her. I have been trying to find out if some of the boys here know him at all, you see they nearly all come from Glasgow. Well darling I must close now,
I have been in the cookhouse today for being a naughty boy, heck do they make one clean pots and pans, dishes, floors and so forth. I had a good time plenty of food to eat, we just helps them selves to the stuff. I eat so much that I could
hardly move. Tomorrow I am on police duties, start at nine o'clock and finish at six with an hour for dinner and the same for tea. I guess I shall enjoy myself standing about in the cold for the day, but still it could be worse, for instance guard, that is a terrible job, the officers call the guard out any time during the night or day, it is a real devil, I guess I shall get my turn. Well darling I do not think there is any thing more I can write about. I myself is keeping fine I get tired of things in general at times. I, like all the boys here wish we could get home for a little while, although I guess leave will not be long now at least that's what I keep telling my self,
with lots of love,
Just off Police duties got into trouble for eating sweets on duty.
