"C" BTY  "E" TROOP

CASTLE HEDINGHAM ESSEX

Dear Marjorie
I am back at Castle H. I had quite a nice time at Lark Hill. Our troop did some nice shooting and was highly praised by some of the big shots, this may mean an early exit to the East. The boys here are as keen as mustard to get to the East. They are tired of the army so they think that if they go and have a smack at the Italians it will help to finish the war quicker. We are on a very strict coarse now of gun drill, rifle drill and are polishing up all we have been taught so we are very busy, it is very tiring all I seen to be doing is working eating and sleeping. I received your letter which you wrote on Saturday, I was please to hear from you. That last parcel which you sent me has not arrived yet, I expect it will arrive shortly. Darling you will forgive me if I do not write so much but I am very busy and am very tired when I am finished, but please continue to write to me as much and as many times as possible. Regarding you coming here I should leave it for a while because I should be unable to see you because we are kept on the go. I believe we are moving again this weekend it will no be far from here. Well darling I must close now, I hope you will be able to understand this note only I have had to rush this note.
Cherrio love,
Syd

P.S.
Tell my Ma & Pa that I am O.K. only I have not the time to write also please note that that I am in "E" troop not in "C" troop.
